Transitional Kindergarten


  • California Senate Bill 1381, the Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010, allows for school districts to design a transitional kindergarten (TK) program to meet local needs.

    The goal of a high-quality TK program is to provide extended opportunities for socialization and learning.

    It is recommended that school districts address all areas of program structure and design, including (a) Policy Development, (b) Funding, (c) Staffing Qualifications, (d) Class Confi guration/Schedules, (e) Universal Design for Learning, (f) Special Education Services, and (g) English Learners.
