Higher Education Opportunities: From Community College to University 

State Center Community College District (SCCCD)

The State Center Community College District—serving Fresno, Madera, and surrounding counties—offers inclusive, high-quality education through Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, and Madera Community College. SCCCD provides multiple paths including associate degrees, career certificates, and Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) that streamline progression to California State Universities.

Fresno City College (FCC), founded in 1910 and serving tens of thousands, is the most accessible college for KHS students. It offers a wide range of programs and is well-positioned to support our local community.

At KUSD, we support all 12th-grade students through every stage of the enrollment process to FCC—helping with applications, orientation, placement, and more—to ensure they start their college journey successfully.

California State University (CSU)

The California State University (CSU) system is the largest public university network in the U.S., with 22 campuses serving hundreds of thousands across California through accessible, high-quality degree pathways.

Fresno State, a proud member of CSU, champions local students through its Bulldog Bound program. Beginning in 9th grade, eligible students from partner school districts are guaranteed admission to Fresno State—backed by early support with admissions prep, career exploration, financial aid estimates, summer engagement, and more. Bulldog Bound fosters equity and belonging, offering a structured bridge from high school to college success.

University of California (UC)

The University of California (UC) is California’s renowned public research university system, boasting 10 campuses that collectively educate nearly 300,000 students. UC combines exceptional academic rigor, groundbreaking research, and community engagement to serve students across the state—using a single, unified application portal for undergraduate admissions: University of California Admissions.

Closest to KHS: UC Merced
As the newest member of the UC family (established in 2005), UC Merced is roughly one hour north of Fresno, making it the most geographically convenient UC campus for students at KHS. With a growing student body of around 9,100 and a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and small-campus community, UC Merced provides an inviting, accessible pathway to a UC education.
