Financial Aid
Why Complete the FAFSA or CADAA?
Filing a FAFSA or CADAA is the first step in determining eligibility for federal and state financial aid. Even if you believe your family will not qualify for need-based aid, many scholarships, grants, and work-study programs require these forms. To qualify for the California College Promise (CCP) program, which provides free tuition for eligible students at community colleges regardless of income, students must complete the FAFSA or CADAA.
FAFSA: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step for seniors planning to attend college, career school, or trade programs. Completing the FAFSA opens the door to grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans to help pay for your education.
At Kerman High School, our Learning Directors are here to guide students and families through the FAFSA process—from creating an FSA ID to submitting the application. We host workshops every Wednesday in October and November, provide one-on-one support, and answer any questions along the way.
💡 Important Deadline: The FAFSA opens on October 1st and must be submitted by March 2nd to be considered for Cal Grants and maximum aid opportunities.
If you need assistance, please reach out to your learning director.
CADAA: The California Dream Act Application (CADAA) allows undocumented and nonresident students who meet certain criteria to apply for state financial aid, including Cal Grants, the Middle Class Scholarship, and other California student aid programs.
At Kerman High School, our Learning Directors are committed to supporting students and families through the CADAA process. We provide workshops every Wednesday in October and November, one-on-one guidance, and assistance with submitting the application to ensure students have access to the financial resources they need to continue their education.
💡 Important Deadline: The CADAA opens on October 1st and must be submitted by March 2nd to be considered for Cal Grants and state aid opportunities.
If you have questions or need help completing the CADAA, please visit the counseling office, we’re here to support you and your family every step of the way.
FSA ID
Before applying for financial aid, students and parents need to create an FSA ID (for FAFSA) or an account for the CADAA. These IDs can be created now and will serve as electronic signatures and are required to submit the applications.
